Privacy policy
We collect as little as possible, and only for the purpose you gave it for.
On this page
This policy applies to AgriVaani (agrivaani.kisaanu.com), run by JayKisaanu Agritech Private Limited. It is written in line with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP).
What we collect
- Contact form: your name, email, mobile number (if you give it) and your message. Used only to reply to you.
- Newsletter: your email address, to send the weekly newsletter.
- Weather and mandi tools: if you choose a district or your location, it stays in your phone's browser. Only the district code is sent to fetch weather and prices, and it is not stored on our server.
- Weather alerts (only if you turn them on): your browser's push address and its keys, your district, the alert types you chose, your crops if you chose mandi price alerts, the time you agreed, and how many alerts were sent today. To avoid sending the same alert twice, the number of each sent alert is kept for 8 days. We do not keep your IP address, phone details or location. Alerts reach you through your browser maker's push service (such as Google, Mozilla, Apple or Microsoft). You get at most 2 regular alerts a day, plus up to 3 official weather warnings. Tapping 'Turn off alerts' or 'Clear all' in My settings removes all of this from our server.
- App and offline: when you install AgriVaani as an app, pages you read and the last weather and prices are kept in your phone's browser so they show without internet. This never reaches us. You can clear it any time from the browser's site settings.
- Server logs: IP address, browser and time, for security and to find faults, kept for 180 days.
Sign-in, comments, newsletter and read counts
- Sign in with Google (only if you do): your Google account number (ID), email, name, when the account was created and when you last visited. We do not keep your photo, Google tokens or any password.
- Comments: what you wrote, your name and the time. Every comment appears only after an editor approves it, and only your name is shown, never your email. To stop floods of comments, the IP address is counted for a short time in the server's memory and never written down.
- Newsletter: email, language, when you agreed and where you signed up. The newsletter starts only after you press the button in the confirmation email (at once if you sign up while signed in with Google, because Google has already verified the email). Emails are sent through Amazon SES (Amazon Web Services). Every email has a one-click link to leave.
- Read counts: how many times each story was read per day. No cookie is set for this and nothing about the reader is kept, only the story number and the count.
- How long: your account and comments until you delete them. A sign-up that is never confirmed is deleted after 7 days (90 days if the confirmation email could not be sent yet), and a cancelled sign-up after 30 days.
- Deleting everything: on the My settings page, “Delete my account and comments” removes the account, all its comments and the newsletter sign-up for that email at once. You can also stop the newsletter from the link in every email.
Cookies and analytics
Only when you sign in do we set one necessary cookie, which keeps you signed in for 30 days. During sign-in a second cookie lasts 10 minutes. There are no advertising or analytics cookies.
Who we share data with
We do not sell your data. Services such as Google Workspace (mailbox) and Amazon SES (newsletter) for email and Amazon Web Services (Mumbai, ap-south-1) for running the website work on our behalf. Other data is given only when the law requires it.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, and stop the newsletter any time. Write to the grievance officer at info@kisaanu.com. We will reply within 30 days. All the ways are on the Your data rights page.
How long we keep data
Contact messages for 1 year after our last reply, and your newsletter email for as long as you are subscribed. After you unsubscribe, your email is deleted within 30 days.
Changes
If this policy changes, the change is announced on this page with a new date.
